My Green Thumb

Veggies anyone.... The people that lived here before us planted heaps of stuff and it is growing like crazy. We have added a bunch of stuff also. But we are so lucky to have all of this and it is great for the kids because before they really had no idea where things came from. They love going out everyday to see how big things have gotten overnight. And they love to pick things off and eat them. I will give you a rundown of what we have. Apple, pear, plum, nectorine, avacado, orange, banana, lemon, and lemonaid trees. Parsley, mint, and rosemary. Greenbeans peppers, lettuces,
strawberries,tomatos,zucchinni,tamatillos,corn,cucumbers,blueberries,
raspberries, fejoia and passion fruits. I think that is all. It has been fun and relaxing just going out and tending the garden. Now only if we could keep the birds away...

Hangin at the Beach

Well before the kids started school we decided to go to the beach for a few days with our friends the Pere family. We went to Waihi beach and it was so kewl. The kids had a blast just find heaps of star fish and sand dollars. They even ran into an occasional crab that would pinch their feet. The water was so warm and the weather was beautiful.

It has been heeps of fun having them here and I can't believe they are leaving on Sunday. We have gone to a lot of places and just been busy the whole time. Betty and I planted a bunch of stuff around our house and we have a veggie garden and fruit trees here so we have been playing around with that. This picture is at the Waikato river hot springs. We went for a lake cruise, swimming, and we went on the rapid jet boat down the river.AWESOME. Well once we are settled in more i can catch up on things.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE

Boy are we stuffed...hahaha...Here we are with are spead getting ready to eat. This was my first time ever cooking a turkey and I think it turned out really good. We had turkey, ham, and all the trimmings thanks to a care package from Rachael full of USA goodies. It didn't quite feel like thanksgiving because we weren't at the farm with all of our family and it is spring here but it was nice to talk to everyone on the phone and see everyone. I can't beleive Christmas is right around the corner.

Let's Go Jellyfishing!!!

We went to Raglan on Wednesday and we were playing at this beach and the kids were finding all kinds of shells, starfish, and crabs. Mike was trying to get Purple Rain to walk out to him and he wouldn't come and he kept saying NO there is a white jellyfish and we thought he was just seeing things and playing around. Mike walked over and sure enough there was a jelly. Who said kids can't learn anything from cartoons. I would personally like to thank Sponge Bob for teaching my kids about the dangers of jellys. Anyways after that we kind of got spooked and decided we had enough of the beach.

Look how BIG !!!!

Mike took some pictures of our little garden to show everyone how big everything is getting. The kids have gotten so excited because they have eaten about 20 strawberries from it and they keep asking every day when the other stuff will be done.

Speed Demon!!!

Welcome to New Zealand...haha
I had to drive to Auckland today but before I left my wonderful husband advised me to be careful and don't speed...do you think I could heed his counsel...of course not. So I got pulled over. The unarmed officer came to my window asked me for my license and noticed of course that I had an accent. He informed me that I was doing 116 in a 100 km zone. I believed I was only doing 109 but he insisted he was right. After that I thought maybe since I told him I have only been here for 5 months he would let me off with a warning...but NOOOOOO.. Instead he told me I had to take a darn breath-a-lizer. I said "your kidding right" and he assured he was not. WOW it came back no alcohol. Imagine that. So then he proceeded to give me my $120 ticket and told me I now have 20 demerits on my record and if I collect 100 in the next two years I lose my license. So today was not a good day.
